Considering last 20 years of information technology sector in our country, we see that we have travelled a long way, however there is still a long way to go. Particularly, while we have shown a world-scale improvement in the finance sector, on the other hand more intense effort must be shown in order to keep up with same scale in the puclic sector. 20 years ago, there were a few technology companies in our sector, nowadays this number is expressed in tens. These numbers are proof that how much our sector has grown throughout last years. However, if we would like to see our country among the 10 developed countries, utilization of information technologies is a MUST. Primarily in the public sector, we have to accelerate and increase information investments. Considering 2023 targets set by the government, we see that awareness is high and information sector development has been included in strategical priorities. Plans and programs should be fulfilled in order to proceed as per the targets. Fundamental need of our sector is sustainable, efficient and human-oriented growth.

In our era, it is not possible to separate economy and information sector between each other. If we want to grow economically, we should know that it depends on information technology sector. One of the main reasons of this is that costs while costs can be reduced, productivity and performance can be enhanced by modifying working model of everybody within the entire organization and institutions thanks to proper informatics investments. In this respect Virtualization, Cloud Information and Mobility technologies will be much more widely spoken about. Along with these technologies, security issue will be important and become a different dimension. It is certain that we will take a longer way during upcoming 20 years as compared to last 20 years.

We are all aware of importance of qualified and correct information. In this respect, I see that IT newspaper is one of the main information sources in the sector. Besides that it tracks recent developments in the sector very fast, it also gives direction to the sector thanks to its experience more than 20 years. It holds a locomotive task by using background knowledge of experienced staff and defining agenda items. In addition to that, columns are unbiased. I think that it is significantly important to question our position and sector. I wish ITnews continue this successful pattern and become one of the irreplaceable in our sector.
