In my opinion, corporates should purchase very large capacity disc at the beginning rather than getting smaller capacity discs and capacity enlargement. Discounts are higher at first purchases and also high costs for disc enlargements are avoided. Capacity enlargement is more expensive since existing products are not being produced anymore and spare parts are used for disc capacity expansions. During planning stage of first purchase of disc system, if there is available disc systems in hand, solutions that can virtualize all these systems under a single management interface should be chosen to protect the investment.

Considering public institutions, they have difficulty to analyse how much they will grow and which projects they will deal with in the future. As a result, they set aside low budgets and they can meet sudden emerging demands. They also suffer from tendering procedure difficulties. It seems they spend utmost effort to realize IT projects.
What are benefits of virtualization solutions? Are the companies aware of these advantages in Turkey?
In our country, server virtualization technologies have been first started to be implemented in 2007 for critical systems. Since then, corporates become aware of source improvements and management simplifications resulted from virtualization. On the other hand, it is impossible to say the same thing for desktop virtualization and storage virtualization. If a company having an average 1000 PC implement desktop virtualization technologies, it can save electricity up to 60-70 thousand TL. Moreover, they can have savings from service, support, maintenance, back-up and security items. Storage virtualization is still a strange subject for the companies. They either try to enlarge the existing capacity at higher costs to conserve the investment or they buy new storage system next to existing system which leads to management, back-up and catastrophe recovery problems. It is possible to resolve all these problems with storage virtualization.
How do you evaluate data storage and virtualization market growth in Turkey?
There is still a significant development potential on this aspect in Turkey. Storage market will expand due to document digitalization and desktop virtualization. It is also obvious from the fact that many storage system manufacturers have already opened up a local office in Turkey. Virtualization market will also grow more. There are many organizations and institutions that have not started virtualization yet.
How did cloud information become a factor for expanding such technologies?
In our opinion, cloud information is not applicable in public sector currently. It is not correct to talk about a Public Cloud without enacting proper regulations and legislations. Besides that, each public organization makes very serious investments. Cloud Information causes problems for conservation of the investment.
