What is your corporate approach about Green IT? What are your related studies?
Computer hardware manufacturing fields, telecommunication systems, generators, data centres, and servers have adverse environmental impacts. Entire Information Technologies sector emits 2% of total carbondioxide emissions of the world. Green IT concept has been emerged by the researches aiming at minimizing this harmful effect.
As 4S Information Technologies, we conduct researches on energy efficient technologies and encourage both our employees and clients to be sensitive about the energy use. For example, 50% of total energy consumption in data centres is used for cooling of physical hardware. In case that installed physical hardware park virtualization technology is not utilized, 75-80% of total energy is used during intense periods, this consumption decreases about 10% during routine times. We infer that virtualization technology is a great opportunity for energy efficiency and Green IT. We can decrease natural source consumption at about 70% by correct analysis and integration.
Another example for that, if your personnel’s daily task is only using a certain program or majority of your personnel uses internet-based applications; there is no need to have a fully equipped computer since your source consumption will be unnecessarily high. As 4S, we believe that desktop virtualization and thin client systems will play a great role in Green IT field.
