Why virtualization?

When it comes to efficiency in information technologies, for a long time first technology that comes into mind was virtualization. There are many reasons for that. If you ask me, the main reason is virtualization provides the real benefit from the investment. What is real benefit? You likely to see a statement such as “according to a research, only 5% of processor power of the servers among the world is used” in the presentations about server virtualization. Although 5% is quite assertive, we have observed that this statement is very much true according to analyses we conducted in the companies. As 4S Information Technologies, we emphasize virtualization technologies so much because idle sources within the corporations can be recycled by this way. This recycling is not limited to only processor power or efficient use of the hardware.   One of the main benefits of virtualization is management wise simplifications.

Major problem that corporates/companies encounter related with IT infrastructures is management difficulties. We can manage our servers, data storage and network products via a single interface thanks to virtualization technologies, integrable software provided by network equipment manufacturers and we can enhance labour force efficiency. Many operations in which virtualization technologies are not used can be operated within a shorter time at virtualized structures. Consequently, we can save time which is the most valuable asset in our era.

In addition to those, we can establish a comprehensive control mechanism on our existing sources. Thanks to simle and detailed monitoring features of the virtualization technologies, we can respond quickly to the problems arising from performance problems that we had difficulty to detect in the past.

In addition to server virtualization, “Desktop Virtualization” and “Application Virtualization” solutions have taken a long way, virtualization is out of system rooms anymore and it became a solution that each employee can take advantage of it.  If a user has a problem with this machine, she/he does not wait reconfiguration of her/his machine during rest of the day. This case is a history anymore. Thanks to desktop and application virtualization, the user can start to use her/his desktop and assigned application within minutes. It is quite easy now. Server virtualization is already standardized. I believe that desktop and application virtualization will be a part of this standard within a short period.
