“Business Intelligence” solutions are one of the target points of 4S Information Technologies in 2012. It can mean “Reporting” for business units of the sectors that are served and many units in IT sector.  Visible part is reporting for the end user, so it is considered as a reporting tool; however it is a part of business processes since they can affect strategic decisions due to reported data content.  Therefore, necessary analysis should be conducted to determine business unit needs; database should be cleaned, database infrastructure should be established for reporting and proper hardware needs should be fulfilled as per infrastructure within business intelligence project scope.

Some of terms used in such projects are as follows:

Data source: Database where data is stored (ORACLE,MSSQL,DB2),  file (excel, word, xml) or several services (Web Sites).

ETL Process (Extract,Transform,Load): ETL process is composed of 3 stages. Drawing required data from defined data sources, re-construction of this data according to defined needs and reporting and transferring of reconstructed data into analysis database so-called Data Warehouse.

Datamart: Considering corporate basis, it is smaller structure than data warehouse established for different departments.

OLAP: Hızlı ve etkili veri analizi için oluşturulmuş çok boyutlu yapılara denir.

Data Mining: It is revealing the confidential data in large databases by a modelling technique. For example; ‘What is the amount that corporates spent for HP software in 2011 budget? reply is considered as reporting;  however‘ What is the estimated amount that corporates will spend for HP software in 2012?” question can be answered by Data Mining.
